What is polyaluminum chloride?
Polyaluminum Chloride (Poly aluminium chloride) is short for PAC. It is a type of water treatment chemical for drinking water, industrial water, wastewater, groundwater purification for color removing, COD removing. It can be regarded as a type of flocculant, decoloring agent or coagulant.
PAC is a water-soluble inorganic polymers between ALCL3 and AL(OH) 3, the chemical formula is [AL2 (OH) NCL6- NLm] ,’m’ refer to the extent of polymerization, ‘n’ stand for the neutral level of PAC products. It has the advantages of low cost, less consumption, and excellent purification effect.
How many types of PAC?
There are two kinds of production methods: one is called drum or roller dried, the other is spray dried. As the different production ways, there are subtle differences from the appearances and the specifications.
Drum or roller dried PAC is yellow ,brown or dark brown granular, with Al2O3 content from 22% to30%. The water insoluble material is not more than 1%.While Spray Dried PAC is yellow, pale yellow or white powder, the Al2O3 content is from 26% to 32%. The water in soluble is less than 0.5%.
How to choose the right PAC for different water treatment?
The national Standard for Polyaluminium Chloride PAC is GB 15892-2009.Usually, high Fe Content Polyaluminium PAC has better effect for industrial water treatment, and low water insoluble and low metal content polyaluminium chloride PAC is used for drinking water treatment.
