Brown Fused Alumina (BFA)is a very refractoryhard and chemically resistant material.It is produced by the smelting of Calcined Bauxite in anelectric arc furnace at temperatures greater than 2000°C. A slow solidification process follows the fusion to yield blocky crystals. It is brown and compared to White Fused AluminaBrown Fused Alumina is tougher and not quite as brittle this is due to its relatively high Ti02 content Its high hardness and touahness make it hiahly suitable for arindina metals of hiah tensie strenath This is due to its relatively high Ti02 content.
