I, What’s Poly aluminium chloride (PAC)?

Poly aluminium chloride (PAC) ,also referred to as PAC, PAX, or Polyaluminium Hydroxide Chloride Sulphate Solution, is a new type of high-performance inorganic polymer flocculant or coagulant.It is an inorganic polymer synthesized by aluminum chloride, aluminum hydroxide, alumina or other inorganic aluminum compounds with hydrochloric acid.

II,How many types of Poly aluminium chloride (PAC)?

a)Production Process

There are two kinds of production methods:

1^st, drum or roller dried,

2^nd, spray dried.

As the different production ways, there are subtle differences from the appearances and the specifications. For Poly AluminIum Chloride PAC roller dried, the basicity is 90-110, it is higher than Poly Aluminium Chloride PAC spray dried.

Drum / roller dried PAC is yellow, brown or dark brown granular, with Al2O3 content from 22% to30%. The water insoluble material is not more than 1%. While Spray Dried PAC is yellow, pale yellow or white  powder, the Al2O3 content is from 26% to 32%. The water in soluble is less than 0.5%.

b)Appearance
In terms of form, Poly Aluminium Chloride PAC can be divided into three types: liquid, solid powder and solid granular. The solid Poly Aluminium Chloride PAC can be divided into white, milky white, light yellow, yellow and brown colors. Based on each different color, its corresponding liquid is colorless, slightly yellow, light yellow, yellowish and brown. Also the AL2O3 ,FE and heavy metal materials contents are different. III, Applications of Poly Aluminium Chloride PAC

Poly aluminium chloride (PAC) has the advantages of high adsorption activity, wide range of pH value, no need for coagulation aids and no influence of water temperature.

1,Used in water treatment. With the properties of adsorption, aggregation and precipitation, Poly aluminum chloride PAC is excellent coagulant in sewage treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, circulating water treatment, etc. It is widely used as coagulant/coagulation or flocculant/flocculation for the purification of drinking water and industrial waste water treatment. Poly aluminium chloride (PAC) combined with weak cationic polyacrylamide, aluminum sulfate and ferric chloride, also can be used for sludge conditioning.

2,Used in papermaking industry. In addition to the use for sewage and clean water treatment, its main function is to be used as rosin neutral sizing precipitant and retention aid, filter aid.

3,Used in textile printing and dyeing industry. The wastewater of  the textile printing and dyeing industry has the characteristics of larger water volume, deep color and high content of organic pollutants.  In short, it is one of the most difficult industrial wastewater to treat. The addition of Poly Aluminum Chloride PAC can form dense and large alum blooms in the wastewater treatment process, so  the sedimentation speed is fast, and the treatment effect is obvious. PAC chemical also has anti-wrinkle function of cloth.

4, Used in mining industry. Mainly used for ore flotation, which can act on mineral separation. It can separate water from gangue, which is convenient for water reuse.

5,Used in petroleum mining industry. It is the main material for wastewater treatment in petroleum exploration. The role in petroleum exploration is as oil-displacing agent, water shutoff regulator, drilling fluid regulator, and fracturing fluid additive.

6, Used in agriculture. The soil surface of soil crust has the properties of high density, small pores, low saturation and hydraulic conductivity, which can hinder the infiltration of soil water, increase surface runoff and hinder seed germination. The role of Poly Aluminum Chloride PAC is to increase the soil moisture content, inhibit the formation of soil crusts, as well as increase water infiltration.

7,Used in aquaculture. The addition of Poly Aluminum Chloride PAC coagulant can precipitate and remove a large amount of organic matter from the water.

8,Used in leather industry. Poly Aluminum Chloride PAC and Anionic polyacrylamide PAM are commonly used as water treatment agents for tannery wastewater. They have the advantages of good water purification effect, quick response, and high cost performance. Poly Aluminum Chloride PAC can effectively remove 80-95% of suspended solids and  90% of Colloidal substance,it has a stable effect on removing bacteria and viruses in water. The main functions of Poly Aluminum Chloride PAC in water treatment are charging neutralization and contracting the electric double layer and polymer bridging adsorption effects. During the treatment process, suspended particles in waste water are aggregated and enlarged to form flocs, it can accelerate the agglomeration of particles and achieve the purpose of solid-liquid separation.

IV, Poly Aluminium Chloride PAC Application Method:

1. The solid products should be added after dilution. Dilution ratio generally: 2%~20% (in weight percentages).
2. The general dosage: 1~15 grams / ton, and the actual dosage is based on users’ test to determine.
3. The product can not be mixed with other chemicals.
